My Developing Scholarly Interest -Blog

Image
My Developing Scholarly Interests Early in the semester, I wrote about an area or topic I would like to research. Now it's time to discuss how my ideas have evolved.  Question one: what is your current research interest? My current research interest lies in exploring the intersection of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Public Pedagogy Curriculum Initially, my focus was primarily on how DEI practices in teacher education address issues of race, class, and gender. However, over time, I have broadened my perspective covering not just teacher education but also informal and community-based settings (cultural literacy, and by extension, intercultural competence).   By combining DEI principles with public pedagogy, I aim to explore DEI, and how it can be integrated to enhance rich educational experiences, both within and outside of formal school settings. Question two: How have your experiences this semester impacted this area of interest? My research...

The Day a Museum Changed My Perspective -- -------with less than 3 min Pre-video

Hello!!! Here is the link to my Pre- video Uploading or inserting video here has been unsuccessful.  UbWm8AqxtAJjxHo44JZNt.1034.IRZXSOY.mp4 Scroll down for a recommended link to view the first British Museum. Museums serve as custodians of heritage, offering opportunities for learning, exploration, and inspiration. Museums provide opportunities for informal education , where learning happens through exploration rather than structured lessons. Museums often house artifacts, documents, and art that reflect the histories of different racial and ethnic groups. Racial studies have not been a prominent or widely discussed topic in Nigeria. Although my graduate program in curriculum theory has exposed me to various discourses, sparking my interest in areas such as race, gender, sexuality, religion, and the apolitical perspectives within the curriculum. Nonetheless, I believe the concept of race remains a highly controversial topic within the field of education.  As an ...

Topical Readings for second submission. Task: Synthesize, across all for articles from both submissions

Topical Readings for the second submission   Task:   Synthesize all articles from both submissions. I will be synthesizing seven articles for this task. These articles I read resonate most with my research and areas of interest with a focus on gender inequalities, as I am particularly committed to promoting and contributing to SDG Goals 4 and 5. Additionally, I explored articles on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and public pedagogy, as they align with my interest in fostering inclusive practices. I will begin my synthesis with the first four articles, which address gender inequalities, and then discuss the last three articles, which focus on DEI and public pedagogy. These latter articles emphasize education beyond formal school systems and provide valuable insights into inclusion and inclusive practices both within and outside formal educational settings.   The first article by Shepherd, S. (2017) explores “ why there are so few female leaders in high...

Blog post 2.... The tales of Christabel's Journey, interest and goals.

Image
H ello everyone, welcome to another session of my blogpost. So, far, Christabel enrolled in for a PhD studies and majoring in Curriculum studies here in Purdue University . 💁💁💁💁💁 As a matter of fact, there is so much excitement and expectations attached to this journey, firstly, it began with finding a programe that best fits my career expectations, goals and passion. I believe that this, program will not only enhance my understanding of curriculum and instruction but also empower me to make meaningful changes in the education system. Nonetheless, what I hope to get out of this program spans from delving   into the knowledge of foundational theories of curriculum development and   history  that is exploring cultural, philosophical, and practical issues in teaching and teacher education to equipping me with   research skills,   that is, advanced research methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative (interestingly, Iam already exploring these aspec...
